The Orlando Magic are urged to sign Anfernee Simons in NBA free agency. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report highlighted Simons as a potential target for the Magic.
What happened?
Anfernee Simons joined the Chicago Bulls late in the 2025-2026 NBA season. He's set to hit the free agency market and could be a flight risk out of Illinois.
Why it matters for Orlando Magic
Simons won't be available at the minimum, but the Magic might shuffle their roster to use a mid-level exception. Failing that, Tim Hardaway could be a solid trade option if Orlando believes he can match his 40.7% three-point shooting from last year.
Anfernee Simons' NBA Career
Simons entered the NBA Draft in 2018 and was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 24th overall pick. He started his career with the Blazers, appearing in 389 games and producing averages of 15.0 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds.
| Season | Team | Games | Points | Rebounds | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018-2025 | Portland Trail Blazers | 389 | 15.0 | 2.2 | 3.3 |
| 2025 | Boston Celtics | 49 | 15.2 | 2.8 | 3.0 |
| 2025-2026 | Chicago Bulls | 6 | 15.2 | - | - |
Last result: Milwaukee Bucks 109-111 Orlando Magic (2025-03-09). Recent form: 1W-0D-2L (WLL, most recent first). The Bulls have space to spend and keep Simons on board, but he could be looking for a competitive situation, which is something he could get in Orlando.
